The story

1955 Jaguar XK140 DHC

For sale, beautiful Jaguar XK140 DHC performed in the unique color Battleship Grey combined with a red leather interior. This Jaguar XK140 was new delivered in England, produced in December 1954 and delivered to the first owner in 1955. This is a very early XK140 and according to the Jaguar Heritage Trust the first XK140 for the English market that is sprayed in the popular color Battleship Grey. In the past this car has been expertly restored, retaining the original colors of the bodywork and interior, based on the Heritage Certificate that is present at this Jaguar.

The interior of this Jaguar XK140 DHC is covered with red leather. The dashboard and the edges of the door panels are finished with burr walnut and a wooden steering wheel is mounted. Under the bonnet of the XK140 DHC is the 3.4 liter 6-cylinder in-line engine (engine and cylinder head number are the same as the Heritage Certificate, as well as body and chassis number) with 5-speed manual gearbox.

This car has the following options: Gearbox with 5-speed, chrome wire wheels, chrome wing nuts, front fog lights, Jaguar headlights, wooden steering wheel, retro radio, enameled exhaust manifold and a mohini soft top with hoodcover.

If you are looking for a beautifully restored Jaguar XK140 DHC with a comfortable 5-speed manual transmission, please contact us. This car is present in our showroom in Waalwijk, you are therefore very welcome to come and see it!

The Jaguar XK140, successor of the XK120, was introduced in 1954 and sold from 1955 to 1957. Whereas the focus of the XK120 was mainly on speed, the XK140 was built for ease of driving and comfort, including more modern shock absorbers. Because the engine in the XK140 is placed about 10 centimeters further forward, the legroom was enlarged and the car became suitable for taller people.

With the transition from the XK120 to the XK140, the characteristic lines are preserved. Jaguar built the XK140 as roadster (OTS, Open Two-Seater where the soft-top folds behind the seats), convertible (DHC, Drop Head Coupe where the soft-top remains visible when it is folded down) and coupe (FHC, Fixed Head Coupe).
